Cow's protein and baby colic

Cow's protein and baby colic

Today we are going to talk about a subject that is usually quite recurrent in cases of colic. One of the main tips they give us, when our baby has colic, is that we stop taking foods that contain the cow's protein. This protein has a high allergenic potential and in some babies it can affect them.

But like everything, not all babies will solve the problem without this protein. The correct way how such a change should be made is through a test period. The nursing mom should stop taking foods that contain this protein and, observe, if the state of your baby improves.

Beware of foods that contain such protein, because they can be many more than we imagine. Apart from the first ones that can come to mind: milk and dairy products (cheeses, butter, yogurt, ice cream, cream, etc.) we also have to take into account all those processed foods that contain milk or may have traces. For example, cookies, processed foods of any industrial type, etc.

We would stop using these foods and observe the state of our baby. If it stays the same, and we do not see any improvement. The next tip of La Leche League is to incorporate the food back into the diet. Since these provide calcium and are beneficial for the growth of the baby.

In the case that the baby is better, we would keep these foods away from our diet temporarily. About two / three months until we could go back and try to incorporate them to see what the baby's response is now that he's a little more mature.

If we see that it continues to react badly, we should keep in mind that an allergy to protein may be at stake. If apart from the colic of crying, your baby vomits milk (it would be seen as a source, at high propulsion) automatically after being ingested, you should go to the doctor to analyze a possible allergy.
