Infant colic and sleeping face down
One of the most common positions that relieve babies suffering from infant colic is upside down. It is for this reason, that many questions come to us about whether the Wawa band can be left to sleep and place the baby face down.
Against the reasonable idea that, if the baby naturally feels better on his or her stomach, we should put him to sleep that way so he can sleep better, the reality is very different.
First we want to address the idea of letting the baby sleep with the Wawa Band. We must bear in mind that the Wawa Band, once heated, gradually loses heat. This is why, after a while, it no longer has any function and will not prevent your baby from waking up crying in any way. It is for this reason that we do not recommend leaving the baby sleeping with the Wawa Band on. In addition, we must bear in mind that an adult should always be supervising its use at all times.
Once the idea of leaving the baby sleeping with the Wawa Band is discussed, we proceed to talk about the position in which we put the baby to sleep. The world pediatric associations tend to have differences according to different countries where they come from, but there is one thing in which all of them unanimously agree: the position in which the baby should sleep.
It has been shown that a baby who sleeps on his back or, at best, on his side, is less likely to suffer from Sudden Death Syndrome. This death is devastating, because babies are usually found without breathing. There are many factors that can influence but sleeping upside down increases the chances of suffering. It is for this reason that it is NEVER recommended to put the baby to sleep on his stomach.
It is for this reason that, although it seems the most logical, it is not advisable to position it in this way to sleep. You can sleep on your arms face down if you need it, but once you put it on the bed, you should always place it face up.
